Once in a while a person writes an intelligent letter to the editor without the constriction of political correctness. Jo Anne Howard of Sahuarita, AZ wrote one of them to the Arizona Daily Star in Tucson. She took a stance on the credibility of talk radio.
She spoke of Sean Hannity, Ann Coulter, Dr. Laura Schlessinger, Rush Limbaugh and Bill O'Reilly. She could have included Michael Medvid, Glenn Beck, Tammy Bruce, Dennis Prager, Dennis Miller and Michael Savage, but restrictions of the number of words used in an article prohibited that. But, the point is Mrs. Howard told the truth. If it wasn't for those radio talk show hosts, we would be like mushrooms, completely in the dark as to what is really going on in this country and in the world.
The ultra Left Socialist media in this country will only tell us what they want us to know. Call that type of broadcast news what you want, but the truth is, it is nothing less than propagandizing and indoctrinating citizens to think to the Left. The reason for that is, the Left has a monoploy on the television airwaves. Aside from the partially right Fox News, the rest of them are all Leftist. So where can a person go to hear the Right side of the issues? Well, AM Talk Radio is the only choice, but what a great choice it is. Talk show hosts have no regrets in reporting non PC truth. In fact they do such a good job of spreading the truth, it's causing the Left to become paranoid.The Socialists are so concerned that millions and millions of citizens listen to talk radio everyday, that they are creating a bill in congress to put a muzzle on talk radio. The bill is called "hypocritically", "The Fairness Act". It's fair if the Left has all of the TV networks, but it not fair if the Right has talk radio. The Socialists have tried talk radio before and have failed miserably.
I don't know about you, but I'm really sick and appalled with Socialist talking heads on TV telling me at best, half truths and doom and gloom stories like the global warming scam, and giving air time to total imbeciles like Algore, to lie to us and insult our intelligence. Then those ever brilliant Hollywood types give us the ultimate slap in the face, and give this American menace an Oscar.
Along with American Socialist TV influencing the public, socialists, like Algore and teachers and professors have infested our schools and universities with their malodorous agenda, and are brainwashing our children with their offensive and tainted lies. If these people have their way the United States will be a communist country. Don't these Leftest broadcasters and educators realize that once they get total communism in this country that they aren't going to have the things they enjoy now. Everyone will be politically correct, and they will be turning in their friends and neighbors for the slightest of offenses. It will be just like it was when Hitler took over Germany. Everybody was looking over their shoulders to see if someone was going to turn them in to the Gestapo. Worst of all God and Religion will be thrown out, and the only one that people can turn to for help will be the government. It didn't work in Russia, or Cuba and it's not working in China, so why do they think it will work here?
The socialist media such as CNN, ABC, NBC, CBS and all of the others should merge into one giant network and call themselves "Pravda West". The old Soviet Union had only one newspaper, Pravda. So CNN, ABC, NBC, CBS will do themselves a favor by merging now, because when the communists take over this country, there will only be one media outlet if any.

I realize that you have the benefit of years over myself, but reading this post, I can not believe that you actually believe the things you are writing! Let me make one point because I don't want to get in a pissing match with you, and you let me know if you think it's even a liitle valid.
Because it is a publicly funded institution, in order for PBS to broadcast news, it is held to a journalistic standard where sources have to be checked and verified. Content has to be cleared as unbiased, and true to the best of the reporter's knowledge. This goes for NPR as well. NPR and PBS, for the most part, report similar stories as the network news shows. All the news programs, whether we like it or not, have a Lefty and a Righty talking head that analyze the story and spout their B.S. about it. There may be individual biases that come out some of the time in news reporting (probably a reflection of editors and producers of the programs), but this is the exception, not the rule. If you call it news, especially if you are a public institution, you better have facts to back it up.
Who do Rush Limbaugh and Randi Rhodes have to answer to? Nobody. The whole point of political talk radio (whether EIB or Air America) is to sensationalize everything and to keep people listening. That way, the sponsors are happy. There is no such thing as journalistic integrity on talk radio. Do you know why? Because they can lie all they want, and if they get called out on it, they can ultimately say "I was stating my opinion, and not researched facts." Political talk radio is the real "drive-by media". These programs fuel paranoia and division in this country for a profit. They are feeding the pig, and unfortunately, the pig is us.

I don't recall mentioning PBS or NPR in my article. You are correct they are both publicly funded. However, NBC,CBS,ABC,CNN are not publicly funded and their journalism or lack there of, leaves a lot to be desired. There credibility is not what you would have us believe. It doesn't take a wizard figure out what side of the fence your standing on. Other than Sean Hannity, Fox News, and Glenn Beck on Headline News, there are no other Righty talking heads to be found on TV. The rest are all Socialists.
Newspapers such as The New York Times is as biased as can possibly be. Witness the "MOVEON.ORG" full page add concerning General Petraus. Those editors had a choice whether to print that add or not, but they wouldn't pass up an opportunity to degrade a General of our army. If that wasn't total bias and lies, then what is??

Where do you get your facts for that statement? You are sounding like the liberal journalists that you defend. Do you not think that the liberal media doesn't make mountains out of mole hills and sensationalize everything possible to make the Right look bad to keep people listening?? One example my friend would be Mr. Dan Rather. Tell me that he wasn't trying to sabotage our President. Sorry CTC, but your heroes do the same thing.

Of course the liberal media would never ever consider arousing paranoia in the citizens of this country. You of all people should know that the liberals would do anything to put fear and hate into the populace. You should know this because liberal news is all you watch. But on the other hand your indoctrination by the left from childhood, won't let you see through the shroud of lies that are spread by the liberal media. I suppose that you are for "The Fairness Act", and that talk radio should be silenced so that only socialism can be evangelized in this country. If you believe that, then your role models and mentors have done their job.
I often wonder why liberals want to live in this country rather than in a socialist state. I believe it is because they are narcissists that will stop at nothing to get what they want. What they want is to make everyone hate themselves just like they hate themselves. Just look at our government. Republican or Democrat, they are both the same. They are in politics for themselves not for the betterment of the United States. They are selling out the greatest nation ever. Like true narcissists they put themselves above all else. Even at the risk of jeopardizing their own families.
You missed my point CTC. The exclusion of vital news to the public by the liberal left media and the repetitive statements against our country are the basis of my article. You, I suspect, have never listened to talk radio, and if you have, it was for a very short period of time. You my friend are one of the new generation of people that over the period of your short life have been indoctrinated by the left and political correctness to believe that good is bad and bad is good. You were taught either by your parents or your educators or both, that the left is the only way to save our country. I do feel sorry for you and those that think like you. Ask yourself what you think you will have once a communist government takes over our country. Just look 90 miles South of Florida. That will give you an excellent idea of what communism does for countries.
Fidel Castro, Hugo Chavez, Chairman Mao, Lenin, Stalin, Khrushchev and now Vladimir Putin are all evil men that treated and treat their citizens like dogs. If that is what you want for this country then, hey, more power to you.

As I said, I don't want to get into a pissing match with you, but I must at least defend myself.
1). I mentioned PBS and NPR because very often, they are reporting the same stories as the "liberal media," and coming to the same conclusions.
2). Whether the NYTimes is a liberal mouthpiece is debatable, but I think first and foremost they are a business, and if someone paid them to print a full-page add saying "George W. Bush is the greatest President of all time." I'm sure they would. Moveon.org payed for that ad, and got more play out of it from the rage of folks like you, than from the ad itself. I wouldn't have even known about it if people weren't bitching about it. I don't read the NYTimes.
3). I don't understand why you assume I am a liberal just because I disagree with your assesment of most political talk radio. I vote my concience, and always have. I have voted democrat and republican. People like me are what swings elections. I also found it funny that you called Dan Rather my hero.
4). Why are you defending America to me as if I am somehow against it? I love this country as much as you. Where in my simple disagreement with your premise did I espouse the virtues of communism? It seems like your mind is made up, and anyone who doesn't agree with you is a liberal, welfare-state communist.
Finally, I do listen to talk radio, fairly often in fact. I believe it is important to hear the ideologies of all sides. That is one reason I navigated to your blog. I feel that if we don't listen to other points of view, we risk sinking into a comfortable philosophy and we lock out all opposing view points. It is the philosophical equivilent of sticking your fingers in your ears and screaming "LA LA LA LA LA!" I won't do that, so if you don't mind, I may check in and comment on your blog once in a while. Feel free to do the same with mine, although it is far less interesting.

1. You state that PBS and NPR often report the same stories as the liberal media. Well, that because they are just as liberal as the liberal media.
2. The New York Times is without a doubt a liberal newspaper. You mention earlier that editors determine what goes into publication. Business or no business, how do you think our troops felt when the heard that their commander had been called a traitor in a full page add in the city that got bombed on 9/11 by the same people we are fighting? The editors of the NYT could have taken a stand and not published that add for the sake of our troops, but no, they saw the chance to make a statement and hid under the guise of freedom of the press.You say that folks like me were outraged by the add and then on the other hand you didn't even know about the add. I don't think folks like you would have cared about it even if they had read about it. It was also all over TV and you still didn't know about it. But of course it was on liberal TV and downplayed.
3. I assume that you are a liberal just by what you say. You came to the liberal medias rescue right away as soon as you read my blog. If you aren't a liberal why would you rush to their defense?
Voting Democrat or Republican holds little evidence that you are not a liberal. Those two words might as well be taken out of the dictionary and replaced by the word (liberal)period.
I said that liberal media does the same thing as you accused talk radio for doing, and then mentioned Dan Rather. I was saying in fact, that they are all your heroes.
4. I don't care if you agree with me. That has nothing to do with it. But, when someone takes sides with the media that has gone out of it's way to downgrade our country, I have to believe that he has socialistic inclinations.
I'm glad that you do listen to talk radio, you should spend more time listening to it. Listen to Glenn Beck or Dennis Prager. There are many of them that you can listen to, but you can't just listen for half and hour once every six months to get anything out of it. You may surprise yourself and find out some things that you had no idea about.
